I think this is a very inspirational quote.  Big or small, if something or someone has hurt, embarrassed, or just upset you in any way, take the lesson that it offers and know that tomorrow is a brand new day.  Treat it like a new start!

* Originally the film was going to be about a conflict between lions and baboons, and Scar was going to be the baboon leader. Rafiki, the only baboon in the film, was instead going to be a cheetah.

* The wildebeest stampede took Disney's CG department approximately three years to animate.

* In early drafts, Scar was a rogue lion with no relation to Mufasa. Eventually, however, the story writers thought relating him to Mufasa would be more interesting; a threat within. This is why Scar and Mufasa differ so much; They weren't originally designed to be related.

* In the beginning of the film, when a robber is going through a woman's purse on the roof of a building, a Mr. Incredible Pez dispenser can be seen among the items scattered on the ground.

* The sound effects of the flying saucers that were being driven on the island is actually the sound of a muffled Indy car.

*The code to Edna's Lab is 6395742.

*When Edna gives Helen the homing device for the first time in the laboratory, the GPS zooms into the San Francisco area, where the Pixar Animation Studios is located (Emeryville, California) and the old studio building in Point Richmond.

Here are a few cool facts about the movie.  You can find more at imdb.com.

* The original "cute" character of the movie was a music box, which was supposed to be a musical version of Dopey from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But when the character Chip's role was expanded, the music box idea was scrapped. However the music box can be seen for a brief moment on a table next to Lumière just before the fight between the enchanted objects and the villagers in the Beast's castle.  (~ This is something I'll be looking for next time I watch it! ~)

* Art director Brian McEntee color keyed Belle so that she is the only person in her town who wears blue. This is symbolic of how different she is from everyone else around. Later, she encounters the Beast, another misfit, also wearing blue. It symbolized good in the film whereas red symbolized evil (the color of Gaston's shirt is red).

* Among the trophy heads on Gaston's tavern is what appears to be a frog's head, visible in the shot as Gaston spits. A bald eagle can be seen while he jumps onto his chair during his song. (~ Another one I need to keep an eye out for next time. ~)

* The theatrical release of this film was as part of the 1983 reissue of The Rescuers.

* Voice actor Will Ryan came up with the idea to recreate Willie the Giant's (The Ghost of Christmas Present's) flub of the word "pistachio" from Mickey and the Beanstalk.

* Of all the songs on the original album, only "Oh What A Merry Christmas Day" made it to the animated cartoon. The rest of them - including one sung by Ebenezer Scrooge that was called "How Christmas Ought To Be" - were all dropped, and the lyrics were rendered into normal dialog.

I will be posting tomorrow about our Mulan movie night we had last night, so before that pops up, here are some fun facts about the movie (found on imdb.com):

* When Mulan sings "Reflection" in her father's shrine, her reflection appears in the polished surface of the temple stones. The writing on the temple stones is the names of the Disney animators who worked on the film written in ancient Chinese.

* 'Mulan' was Disney's first ever DVD, released in November 1999.

* The scene where Mulan disarms Shan-Yu with a fan shows an actual martial art technique.

As most of you I'm sure know, President Obama was at Walt Disney World on Thursday to talk about a strategy to boost travel and tourism. But since this is a Disney blog and not a political one, here are a few of his quotes about Walt Disney World. ;) You can read his whole speech here.

* In early development, Aladdin resembled Michael J. Fox. As the film developed, Jeffrey Katzenberg didn't think Aladdin had enough appeal to women, so he asked that Aladdin be beefed up a bit to resemble Tom Cruise.

* Jasmine's appearance was influenced by Jennifer Connelly, as well as the sister of Jasmine's animator, Mark Henn.

* Originally, the peddler who introduces the movie would be revealed to be the Genie at the end - hence the fact that Robin Williams voiced him, too. Notice the similarities in the design of the two, especially the eyebrows, the beard, and the four-fingered hands (all other human characters have five fingers). -----> I never noticed those similarities. I guess I know one thing I'll be looking for when we do this movie night soon!

* Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, and Tyra Banks were all considered for the role of Tiana. Alicia Keys and Tyra Banks personally lobbied the studio for the part.

* Anika Noni Rose (Tiana) requested that Tiana be left-handed since she herself is left-handed.

* The star Ray calls "Evangeline" is in fact the planet Venus. Venus is known as the Roman goddess of love.

*Aladdin's magic carpet can be seen on the right during one of the city shots (something else to add to my list of things to look for in Disney movies!).

Apparently there are a lot of cool hidden things in this movie. I really need to rewatch this and look for them! Here are a couple:

* When Lilo and Stitch walk past this store selling calendars with images from around the world, the "Orlando" calendar has a picture of the Magic Kingdom.

* Near the beginning of the film, during the trial, Stich is asked by the council woman to provide some sign that he understands what's going on. Stitch responds by licking the inside of his glass cage. The saliva trail is in the shape of the famous 'D' in the Walt Disney logo.

*Walt Disney received a special Academy Award for Snow White that included one regular award and seven smaller versions of the award.

*Dopey was originally supposed to be a talking dwarf, but they couldn't find someone whose voice fit the character.

*Some of the animators did not like the name "Dopey" to go in a timeless fairy tale. Walt convinced them it was okay because William Shakespeare used it in one of his plays. Any mention of "dopey" has not been found in any of Shakespeare's work.
