Movie Night - Dumbo

We just had our Dumbo movie night.

I focused on the Circus theme for our decorations and everything. It actually ended up being perfect timing, but I'll get to that. :) I found these really cute decorations at Target and couldn't pass them up.

I found these window clings and Ashlyn decorated our back door.

Dinner was hot dogs and macaroni and cheese (hot dogs just seemed like a good circus food). I made a cake for dessert, topped with a modeling chocolate Dumbo, and lined on the bottom with animal crackers. Now, before I post this picture... please don't laugh (or at least don't tell me you did). I can make cute cake pops and can pipe on cookies or cakes really well, but I cannot just straight up frost. Let's leave that up to Peeta Mellark, shall we? And, apparently, I can't work with modeling chocolate. But Ashlyn liked it, so it was worth it. Okay, so... just scroll past it really quickly. ;)

So, before I even started dinner, Aaron called me on his way home from work to tell me that while he was passing the mall, he saw there was a carnival set up in the parking lot! How perfect! So after dinner and the movie, we headed over there. Ashlyn's favorite was the Ferris Wheel, but there was also a Dumbo-type ride!

It was a perfect ending to the day. Now to figure out what our next movie night will be! :)

And The Winner Is...

DUMBO! Thank you all for voting in our movie night poll. Dumbo has been in the lead from the beginning (though Bolt and Tarzan were trying to catch up!) which led me to using it for the Monday quote. I have quite a few ideas that I think will be really cute for the movie night (one involving modeling chocolate, but that's more of an experiment than anything) so I'm very excited! Look for that coming next week. :)

Start Your Week Off Right

Each Monday I post a quote from Walt Disney, a Disney movie, ride, etc. to keep the Disney spirit going... even on a Monday!

Mr. Stork: Oh, one moment, please. This is still part of the service.
[blows tuning whistle]
Mr. Stork: Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear... uh-dear... Dear me, what's his name?
Mrs. Jumbo: Jumbo Junior.
Mr. Stork: Oh, Jumbo Jr. Right, Jumbo Jr.
[blows whistle again]
Mr. Stork: Happy birthday, dear Jumbo Jr. Happy birthday... to-hoooo-ooooo....
[he is suddenly snagged on the mail hook at the train station and yanked off the train]
Mr. Stork: ... yooooooooooou!

Here are a few cool tidbits about the movie, Dumbo, found on imdb.com:

* This is the only Disney animated feature film that has a title character who does not talk. Also, Dumbo's mother, Mrs. Jumbo, only speaks once when she says Dumbo's original name (see quote above).

* This was Walt Disney's favorite film made by his studios.

* The name of the circus (seen on a sign as the train leaves the winter headquarters) is WDP Circus (Walt Disney Productions).
