Movie Night - Brave

The long-awaited day has arrived... we saw Brave on Saturday!

We all had been really looking forward to this.  Ashlyn had been looking forward to it so much that I knew I had to do a movie day to celebrate.  I decorated while she slept and she loved everything when she woke up the next morning.

The playset was printed off from here.

I took a blue and a white tablecloth and turned it into Scotland's flag to put on Ashlyn's table that we were going to do some of our activities at.

We started off the day with bear claws for breakfast.  Since Aaron was at class for most of the morning, we did a couple activities before going to see the movie.  Ashlyn made a Coat of Arms decorated with stickers representing some of her favorite things (idea and template from Disney Family.com).

We also put some more stickers in her Brave sticker book.

As soon as Aaron came home, we headed to the theater!  I had made Ashlyn a little clip (I didn't have all the ribbon I wanted to make a bigger bow) to wear.

After the movie, we learned a Scottish dance (cute directions from Babes in Disneyland) and had an archery contest!

The bow and arrow set is from Toys R Us (and we just love it) and the target is actually from the sticker book I mentioned before.

Dinner was shephard's pie and kale chips.

For dessert we had Teddy Grahams Soft Paws.

I loved the movie!  It was beautiful.  The first thing Ashlyn said was that she didn't like a scary part (I won't mention what for those who haven't seen it), but after she got over that she said she really liked the movie.  She LOVED the music.  Have you seen Brave this weekend?  What did you think?

  2. This looks like so much fun! So the movie wasn't too scary then? I was a little worried from what I had read. I'm glad you had such a fun movie night, and I'm glad Ashlyn liked it!

    1. Ashlyn was definitely scared during certain parts. It's all she talked about for awhile afterward (just saying stuff like "I didn't like [insert scary part here]"). After a little bit, though, she talked about how much she liked the rest of the movie. She still talks about wanting a Brave themed birthday party and wanting to be Merida for Halloween, so the scary parts didn't traumatize her too much.
