Movie Night - Princess and the Frog

It's Mardi Gras! We celebrated yesterday (so we could as a family) with a Princess and the Frog movie night.

We had Ashlyn's toys by the TV and here's how we decorated the table (one of the masks is more plain than the others because I thought Aaron might not want to wear a feathery one lol).

Dinner was red beans and rice with sausage, black eyed peas, and cornbread. We had "swamp juice" (7-up with green food coloring) to drink. Technically you couldn't tell too much that it was green since it was in colored cups, but it would look really cool in clear or white cups.

Dessert was just cupcakes with lemon frosting and yellow, green, and purple sprinkles (beignets and frog cake pops would be perfect, and I've made them before for other things, but I wanted to do something with the sprinkles and keep with the same colors as our table decor).

For activities, Ashlyn colored a Tiana cut-out.

We all wore beads and masks and played with these fly-catching frogs I made earlier in the day.

During the movie we would try to catch flies with Tiana and Prince Naveen during that scene and stuff like that. It was really fun.

There are a ton of fun ideas to do for Princess and the Frog and I just wish I could do them all! I may just need to do full movie days instead of just nights sometimes! ;) I REALLY wanted to do something else decoration-wise, but I needed white Christmas lights and when I opened our Christmas bins, we only had multi-colored lights. Oops! But, I wanted to share the idea with you in case you want to do it. I really wanted to string them up along the wall to look like a line of fireflies. How cool would that have been? :) If you do this for a party or movie night, let me know how it turned out. Let's just say I'll be buying white Christmas lights this year for next year's Mardi Gras/movie night. :) Anyway, in a couple of weeks we'll have our next movie night... Mulan! I'm also thinking of posting another movie night poll in a couple of weeks, so I hope you come back and vote!
