Movie Night - The Sword in the Stone

Usually every 2 weeks my family and I have a themed movie night. So far it's all been Disney movies. I can see us doing non-Disney movies in the future but we'll mostly stick with Disney. :) We've done a handful so far, only having started a few months ago. We've done 101 Dalmatians, Finding Nemo, and The Princess and the Frog, just to name a few. This Saturday night, however, we did The Sword in the Stone!

I've been asked on Twitter if this movie is available on DVD. Yes, it is! The 45th anniversary edition came out in June 2008 and has not gone back into the vault!

Some movie nights we have are more elaborate than others. I blame it on where we live because there are not a lot of craft or party supplies available to us and we'd have to order everything online. Oh, so I haven't told you where we live yet. My husband is in the Navy and we are currently stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Yep. I am looking forward to being back in the states and being able to grab some movie night stuff at a Dollar Store or other places. I just don't feel the pull to pay shipping and handling on things for our movie night. Even when we have simpler nights we have so much fun and I highly recommend doing them!

*ahem* Let's get back on track. So we did The Sword in the Stone Saturday night! :D We cheated a little and got KFC for dinner. Our menu was:

Kay's Chicken Legs
Magical Mashed Potatoes
Wart's Corn
Sword in the Stone Biscuits

We also had sparkling apple cider "mead" in "goblets."

And dessert was magic wands (pretzels dipped in chocolate and sprinkles).

For our activity I cut out three shields out of paper and put our initials in them as well as colored a border. I let my daughter, Ashlyn, color hers before I added some little beads that reminded me a little of jewels (you can't really see them in the pictures). I gave her a bunch of stickers to choose from to decorate as well, but she just wanted to play with them instead of put them on her shield. :) She also decided to put a little touch of her artistic vision on Aaron's and my shield.

Two weeks from now we plan on doing A Bug's Life! Neither Aaron nor Ashlyn have seen it and I saw it maybe once when it first came out so I'm excited to watch it!
